coalescere
Coalescere is the acceptance of becoming-other without losing oneself, of growing together through matter and relationships. It is a slow and continuous movement, made of contact, nourishment and regeneration. It tells the story of Ifa’s birth, generated by a queer union, and the mycelium filaments and feathers that support her body extend across the landscape, becoming traces of a fluid multispecies coexistence. Ifa is a protean body without a skeleton, constituted through encounters with other beings and other forms of matter, dissolving the boundaries between human, animal, vegetal and non-living. Identity thus emerges as something relational and interspecific, shaped through contamination. Within the video, some parts have been manipulated through the use of artificial intelligence, which takes part in the process as a non-human agent; a collaboration that contributes to the work’s mythopoietic dimension and allows for a move beyond an exclusively anthropocentric vision of creation, generating hybrid, unstable images in constant transformation. Coalescere thus becomes a practice of growth and healing, a generative force born from the fusion in which life manifests itself as a pulsating network of relationships, alliances and metamorphoses.
